Scandal! Scandal!

Well, it's 2008, and Bill Clinton's past is coming back to haunt him again. The former President's sexual misdeeds are about to be capitalized on yet again by his "victims," Paula Jones and Gennifer Flowers. Apparently, these two women are creating a website to describe in detail their encounters with Clinton. Let's begin with the assumption that perhaps Americans are hungry for more details of a former President's sex life. Fine. It's a stretch, but stay with me here. Gennifer Flowers may have an interesting story or two to tell, because she allegedly had an affair with Clinton for twelve years. There could be lots of interesting stories about deviant behavior, possible Clinton perversions, dressing up as Little Bo Peep, beastiality, whatever. But she already told her story in her memoir published in 1995. Are we to believe that she held some stuff out of the book, and only now is she willing to reveal new secrets? Paula Jones' claim is that a state trooper took her up to Bill's hotel room once, and he propositioned her. That's it. And she already told this story to a grand jury. You wanna pay $1.99 to hear Paula Jones retell a story of a single incident that's already in the public record? You wanna pay $1.99 to hear Gennifer Flowers retell a story from her book, which you can probably find for $0.99 in the bargain rack at the local thrift store? Be my guest.

Now, let's forget about my assumption that people still care about this. Talk about striking while the iron is ice-cold. What year is this again? If it was 1998, this might be a good idea. But it's not. I'm not about to claim that there are not suckers out there that are willing to spend money on stupid things (there undoubtedly are), but asking people to spend $1.99 to hear two women retell old stories does not seem like an idea that is destined to succeed. In fact, I would not be surprised if this website is gone in a couple months.

One word to describe this ill-concieved business venture: dumb. What, you have a better one? Put it in the comments then...

These women were whoring opportunists then, and they are repeating the same behavior now. They knew what they were doing with Bill. I'm wondering what wealthy Republican paid them some large cash to go forward with this venture, just to help ensure that John McCain would have another leg up on the Democrats. Think of the mess if Hilary had become her party's candidate!

It makes me sick to see these two women (and I use that term lightly) dragging up the PAST again. How much money do they need to shut up?
I agree, they were probably paid by the republican party to stir this mess up. The funny part is this...MANY, MANY former Presidents did the SAME THINGS but it was kept on the down low. Heck, I live in GA where FDR's famous "Little White House" is located...nobody ratted him out when he traveled to GA and had his mistress WITH HIM.
These two women all are dried up and need to get a life and stop being so hateful.

So according to the first two comments, the women are to blame for being "whoring opportunists" (which they may well be) and the Republicans are to blame for financing them (although no details are presented). Conspicuously missing is the blame for the "man-slut" behavior of Bill Clinton (and, if you insist, FDR). He's the one that made all of this possible with his dishonorable behavior, but it seems that alot of people are willing to overlook it. Hmmmmmm.

This makes them nothing less than prostitutes. They are getting paid for sexual favors. They should be arrested.

In response to the "man-slut" comment, in my opinion Bubba's infidelity is not really the issue here. The point is that it's old news and most everyone in the world has moved on - the women are just trying to cash in one more time. I can't speak for the commenters - as the writer of this blog post, I can only speak for myself. I am in no way condoning cheating on your spouse or waving your privates at a subordinate in a hotel room (unless he or she consents to said wanker waving). In fact, I stand firmly against both of those things. And I don't even care if they are trying to cash in on their infamy. More power to them if they can bilk the public out of their hard earned cash for "news" that occurred when Clinton was governor of Arkansas over 17 years ago. I just don't want people to spend their money on this. That is the point of the blog post. As for the comments - well, ANONx2 will have to speak in their own defense.

Eliot Spitzer is bigger news than this and even he is old news at this point.

George Bush can seemingly be forgiven for lining up big gaggers when he was at Yale and probably even in the Governor's mansion in Texas (off Laura's backside???), but Slick Willie has an indiscretion or two and the world is appalled, even so long after the fact. Typical. Why the US public is still so uptight about sex is beyond me.

Maybe we should follow Clinton's lead and get into a discussion of what "is" is. That might be more interesting!
